Importance of DHCP.
           The main purpose of DHCP is to automate the management and configuration IP addresses across a network, so that IPs don't need to be manually assigned by an admin each time a device connects.
DHCP is also responsible for the configuration of domain name server (DNS) and subnet masks, as well as default gateways.
Requirement of DHCP.
          With DHCP, there is no need to manually assign IP addresses to new devices. Therefore, no user configuration is necessary to connect to a DCHP-based network. Because of its ease of use and widespread support, DHCP is the default protocol used by most routers and networking equipment.
How to On or Off DHCP.
          If you want to enable DHCP, make sure Obtain an IP address automatically is selected, as well as Obtain DNS server address automatically.
If you want to disable DHCP and enter your network settings instead, select the Use the following IP address option and enter values for IP address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway.
Basic Purpose of DHCP.
          DHCP stands for "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol". DHCP's purpose is to enable individual computers on an IP network to extract their configurations from a server (the DHCP server) or servers, in particular, servers that have no exact information about the individual computers until they request the information.
Difference b/w DHCP and DHCP Server.
DHCP.       
          DHCP client is anything needing an IP address that is not configured as a static. So a phone, computer, Smart TV, etc., all need IP addresses.
DHCP Server.
          The DHCP server is the one responsible for handing out these IPs to the clients.
